A new trailer has been released for the upcoming film adaptation of Everybody’s talking about Jamie, arrival September 17.
Originally slated for distribution by 20th Century Studios in theaters on October 23 last year, the rights were acquired by Amazon during the pandemic.
The film stars newcomer Max Harwood in the lead role. Lauren Patel, who is also making her big screen debut, plays Jamie’s best friend, Pritti Pasha. Richard E Grant plays Hugo / Loco Chanelle, with Sarah Lancashire as Margaret, Jamie’s mother.
Margaret’s best friend Ray is played by Shobna Gulati (who appeared on the show) while Sharon Horgan stars as Miss Hedge, Jamie’s teacher. Bianca del Rio will make an appearance in the film.
Award-winning musical WhatsOnStage is based on Jamie Campbell’s story as featured in the documentary Sixteen-year-old Drag Queen. The documentary was adapted for the stage in 2017 and follows a young boy, Jamie New (renowned for the show) who aspires to be a drag queen while facing a turbulent time growing up in Sheffield. Songs include “And You Don’t Even It” and “He’s My Boy”.
Other cast members include Ralph Ineson (a TV veteran) as Jamie’s father, Samuel Bottomley as Dean Paxton, Ramzan Miah as Zayn, and the show’s original Jamie John McCrea. , will play the Young Loco Chanelle.
the Everybody’s talking about Jamie the film reunites the creative team of the director: Jonathan Butterell returns as director, the screenplay and lyrics are by screenwriter Tom MacRae, and the music is composed by Dan Gillespie Sells and Anne Dudley. Christopher Ross is director of photography.
